Motorola unexpectedly cancelled its large launch event for the Moto Razr 2022 and X30 Pro, with no explanation provided.
The Lenovo-owned company was supposed to host its debut event today at 11:30am GMT / 7:30am ET, however general manager Chen Jin has announced on Weibo that it will no longer take place.
"I'm sorry to notify you that the moto new product introduction scheduled at 7:30 tonight has been cancelled for some reason," Jin remarked (via translations software). "We continue to truly aim to deliver new moto goods to everyone and to remain the moto that Chinese people choose."
That was all Chen had to say about it, save from urging fans to "please continue to pay attention to the official platforms of moto" for any further updates.
Motorola's official Weibo account apologised for the unexpected announcement: "We are profoundly sorry about this." Thank you for your passionate support of Moto's new product. You may keep an eye on the official moto information portal for updates on the new product."
While no reason for the cancellation has been revealed, it is interesting that it occurs in the middle of rapidly growing tensions between the United States and China. As a result of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's travel to Taiwan today, China has responded with both harsh censure and military manoeuvring.
We'll update you as soon as we learn more about the postponed Moto Razr 2022 and X30 Pro launches. The former phone, in particular, is shaping up to be an intriguing challenger to the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4.
